Welcome to the Friendly Fir Tree Farm website!
Friendly Fir Farewell
To our valued customers,
As you know, over the past several years our stock has been decreasing. With an eye toward retirement, we have not been replanting. The 2016 season turned out to be very special, because as it progressed we realized that it would be our final season. Practically all of our remaining trees found homes for Christmas, and even the weather was beautiful, with no snowstorms or mud bogs to contend with. You all helped to make our last season a wonderful finale that included the opportunity to reminisce and say farewells.
We want to express our sincere thanks for your patronage and loyalty over the years. It has been our distinct privilege to have the opportunity to provide Christmas trees for your families, some of you for the past thirty years. Over the course of those years, we have always felt that the best part of our business by far has been getting to know our fantastic customers. It has been wonderful to see your smiling faces each year, catch up on the past year’s events, watch your children grow, and meet your four-legged friends!
We hope to see you when we are out and about in the community, and offer our heartfelt wishes that all of your future Christmases be blessed with peace and joy.

HISTORY
We are a small, family-owned business that was founded by Donald and Phyllis Koch. They first started planting trees in 1983, and began selling them in 1989. In 2001, their daughter and son-in-law, Iris and Russ Lis and their grandson Nathan moved to the farm and joined the business. Many years ago, Donald and Phyllis Koch took a trip to Glacier National Park. On a nature walk with a park ranger, they were told how to distinguish between spruce and fir trees. The ranger explained that "spruce trees are spiny... they have pointed needles, whereas fir trees have soft needles, so that it's possible to shake hands with a fir. They are 'friendly'." This is how Friendly Fir Tree Farm got its name.
